CPU contention, memory pressure, PHP request capacity, database latency, storage performance and server-side caching can affect time to first byte and behavior under concurrency.
Application factors
Plugin code, database queries, cron jobs, external API calls and uncached personalized requests can consume server resources regardless of host.
Frontend factors
Images, fonts, CSS and JavaScript affect browser rendering and Core Web Vitals. A faster origin may improve the beginning of the request but cannot make a 5 MB hero image small.
A sensible diagnosis order
- Measure server response and frontend metrics separately.
- Check cache hit/miss behavior.
- Profile slow application work.
- Observe resource saturation under real load.
- Upgrade infrastructure only when evidence points there.
