WordPress CDN Guide

A CDN reduces geographic distance and offloads cacheable delivery from the origin. It complements hosting rather than replacing it.

Static assets first

Images, CSS, JavaScript and fonts are straightforward CDN candidates because they change less frequently and can be cached for long periods with versioned filenames.

Full-page edge caching

Some CDN setups can also cache HTML for anonymous visitors. This can dramatically reduce origin work, but rules must bypass personalized sessions, carts, checkouts and other dynamic paths.

Security and routing

Modern CDN services can also provide TLS termination, DDoS controls and web application filtering. Treat those as additional layers, not substitutes for secure application code.
