How to Prepare WordPress for Traffic Spikes
Traffic spikes are capacity events. The safest time to discover your bottleneck is before the campaign starts.

Model the spike
Estimate concurrent users and which pages they will visit. A cached landing page is much easier to serve than thousands of simultaneous cart or login requests.
Maximize cacheable traffic
Pre-warm caches where appropriate, use a CDN, optimize static assets and ensure anonymous pages can bypass WordPress execution when safe.
Test dynamic paths
Load-test representative login, search or checkout flows in a controlled environment. Observe PHP, database and third-party API behavior.
Know the scaling procedure
Whether scaling is manual or automatic, know the limit, cost and time to add capacity. Test the procedure before the event.
